This goes way beyond parenting. These are my favorite resources that have over the years helped me see things – see myself – from new perspectives. And when we invest in ourselves, we end up growing our own self esteem, build confidence, and in turn model that behavior for our children and for everyone we interact with.
Books
I would like to say I’m an active reader, but actually I am an active listener. Nearly all of these books I’ve loved I have listened to via audio book on my morning runs. While my family is sleeping, I am recharging and getting inspired to do great things for the day. And if nothing else, I get a good sweat and feel like I’ve accomplished at least one thing – taking care of myself – because you HAVE to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others put on theirs.
Healthy Habits of a Happy Brain by Loretta Beuning. Learn how happy neurochemicals affect our decisions and actions, and what we can do about it.
Weight Loss Made Real – Cookie Rosenblum. I was a little hesitant to list this, but her message is more than just about weight loss. Whether you struggle with food or something else, the message still applies. You don’t need _____ to deal with your emotions.
