ABC Dad bought a $30 bread machine for Christmas and by golly if it’s going to crowd my limited kitchen storage space, I’m going to make the most of it and use it! We tried this pizza dough recipe and it turned out light and spongy, similar to a BJ’s pizza crust. Original recipe from allrecipes.com. Mine includes what worked for me.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flat beer
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Bring wet ingredients to room temperature.
- Put ingredients into bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. For me it’s:
- beer
- butter
- sugar
- salt
- flour
- Make a little well on top of your pile of flour and add your yeast.
- Select Dough setting, and press Start.
- Remove dough from bread machine when cycle is complete.
- Roll or press dough to cover a greased pizza pan. Spreading to 1/4″ thick still made a thick crust about 9″x13″.
- Brush with oil.
- Cover and let stand 15 minutes. (Forgot to do this the first time and it still turned out great.)
- Prebake crust about 15 minutes.
- Spread sauce and toppings on top of dough. Bake until crust is lightly brown and crispy on the outside, about 10 minutes.
Can I freeze my dough?
Absolutely! After the first rise, cover your dough with parchment paper or saran wrap and put it into a ziploc bag, into the freezer. When you need it, just pull it out a few hours before and you will be ready to roll and rise before baking.
